Encouragement for your daily walk with God
If you want to bear fruit for God, actually, if you want to accomplish anything for God, then live in Jesus. Or, as Jesus said, “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing” [John 15.5].
What can we learn from that metaphor of vines and branches? For one thing, the branch depends on the vine for everything — its growth, its energy, its nutrients, its life. In the same way, our sustenance and life comes from living moment by moment in Jesus.
Abandon everything that competes with Christ as your source for life and meaning. Prune away everything that draws you away from Him. Allow Him to live in and through you. Fruit will come.
I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. John 15.1-5
