God Moments

eDevotion
Encouragement for your daily walk with God

I was working through a difficult circumstance once and there just didn’t seem to be a breakthrough. I went to a friend to talk about it and his response was, “Rick, you just don’t have enough faith. That’s your problem.”

Sure, I wanted “more” faith, who wouldn’t! But how?

I got my answer a day or two later, when reading a story about David in 1 Samuel. He wanted to fight a giant that had appeared on the scene. King Saul tried to talk him out of it but that didn’t settle well with David. His response to Saul revealed his faith. In essence he said that God delivered him from trouble in the past and He’ll do it again. Remembering God’s faithfulness yesterday gives us the confidence in His faithfulness today. Hence, stronger faith because faith believes truth.

Let’s call it the “God moment principle”.

Faith isn’t a close-your-eyes-and-hope-for-the-best thing. We call that “blind faith”. Rather, it’s confidence based on God’s interaction with you in the past. Neither is it mental gymnastics in order to make a spiritual claim. Rather, it’s knowing and believing truth based on past evidence. I’ll say it again, faith believes truth.

Faith remembers the God moments from your past and builds on it. God moments — when He helped you, when He protected you, when He delivered you, when He redeemed you, when He comforted you, when He …

The more you see God in your life, the more your faith will grow!

Moreover David said, “The LORD, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” 1 Samuel 17.37
