God First

eDevotion
Encouragement for your daily walk with God

I’ve said many times that there are no short-cuts or secrets to living for Christ. That is also true about receiving God’s provision. Scripture is clear, when we seek God’s kingdom and righteousness, He provides the things we need. They are “added” to you.

I know, I know, that is too simplistic for some people, but please don’t sweep it aside. That would be a grave mistake. As a Christ follower, we should never underestimate the power of obedience. When we obey God and get our priorities in line with Him, it unlocks and releases true blessings in our life.

I read an interesting story about J. L. Kraft. After being forced out of the cheese wholesaler Shefford Cheese Company by his partners, he started selling cheese on the streets of Chicago. Things weren’t going so well for him. One day, a friend told him, “J. L., your priorities aren’t straight. Put God first in all the things you do, and you will see a different outcome.”

He did just that, and built the largest cheese empire in the world, which later became Kraft Foods.

Here’s the deal; first things first. If I may, I’ll put the words of Jesus in a modern tone: “Don’t worry. Get your priorities straight, and God will take care of you.”

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6.33
