Weak and Heavy Laden

eDevotion
Encouragement for your daily walk with God

There’s a remedy for when you’re tired from hard work or lack of sleep—a good rest. But what do you do about spiritual exhaustion? What do you do with that deep, spiritual tiredness that comes when your have carried a heavy burden or experienced a draining crisis? How do you deal with the weariness of carrying the weight of the needs of others? You could go a relaxing vacation, but I doubt that will restore your soul.

To the likes of these there was a special invitation from the Lord Himself. He spent most of His earthly ministry surrounded by needy multitudes. We find Him often praying through the night, facing relentless opposition, and rarely having any privacy. Yet He found a source of rest and strength—from His Father.

Are you weary? Go to Jesus. He has a rest like no other. His rest will restore your soul as nothing else can.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:28-29)
