Where Is Your Safe Place?

Encouragement for your daily walk with God

One thing I love to do on my travels to Israel is to listen to the stories of people who live there. You can learn a lot from people who face adversity, danger, and uncertainty with confidence.

One such story involved a young couple with their first child, who finally scraped together enough money to buy their first house. The day they moved in, a bomb exploded in a bus just a few blocks away. Sirens wailed, screams were heard, frantic parents and friends looked for their loved one.

On my 2012 trip, we stopped our bus at the border of Gaza. While we were taking pictures we heard a loud “boom,” which we later learned was a rocket that was launched from Gaza City and landed in Be’er Sheva, the city we were staying in for a couple of days. We learned from our guide that thousands of rockets land in Israeli cities each year.

Someone asked our guide, “Aren’t you afraid to live here?” The truth of the matter is, there really aren’t very many safe places to live in this world. However, there is one safe place, and our guide told us where it is. I’m pretty sure you have heard of it. It’s called “the will of God.

Whatever God has told you to do, or wherever He has told you to go, you can choose to live in a place of fear and anxiety, or submit all your fears and anxieties—your cares—to Him, and live in peace; peace that comes from the joy of doing God’s will.

God’s will. That’s where I want to live, how about you? He will not leave your side when you step forward to work for Him—when you live in His will.

The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? Psalm 118:6
