Prepare Yourselves for Worship

eDevotion
Encouragement for your daily walk with God

Authentic worship begins within our hearts. Some make the mistake of thinking that better music, elaborate audio/visual, and/or impressive sermons produce a better worship experience. I’m not dismissing these valuable contributions to our worship, but if worship doesn’t come from our pure hearts before God, these things, and other mechanics, are merely religious pageantry.

Today, some tend to look to external things to enhance worship. The true quality of our worship, however, rests within us. If we have not allowed God to purify us first, our worship will be void of His presence.

Attending a religious service will not automatically guarantee a confrontation with God. If you are not satisfied with the quality of your worship, don’t be too quick to attribute it to your setting. Look first to your heart. Allow God to purify your heart until it is pleasing to Him, and you will be free to worship God as He intends—in spirit and in truth.

He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi, And purge them as gold and silver, That they may offer to the LORD An offering in righteousness. (Malachi 3:3)
