Use Your Eyes to Hear

eDevotion
Encouragement for your daily walk with God

A Christ follower “hears” God speaking through prayer, His Word (the Bible), His messengers, and, yes, in earthly events. It’s ironic that non-believers believe that God moves in human activity, but it is commonly thought of as calamity. Insurance companies, for example, will not pay on policies when some “ACTS OF GOD” occur.

“Acts of God” surround us, so watch for them, and listen. The disciples discovered God’s power when Jesus calmed a raging sea. They discovered the passion of God for sinners by seeing Jesus dine with a notorious tax collector, Zacchaeus. They discovered how far God would go to free sinners from sin when Jesus hung on a cross. They discovered God’s authority over death when they found an empty tomb. For those with “eyes” to “hear,” acts of God speak loudly about His heart and His will.

So use your “eyes” to “hear” God’s voice. Be watchful because God is at work. And when you hear His voice by what you see, you’ll have added insight as to how to respond to Him.

Look among the nations and watch—be utterly astounded! For I will work a work in your days, which you would not believe, though it were told you. (Habakkuk 1:5)
